Rev. Carolyn Ladd Owens was reared in Easley South Carolina, the daughter of the late Fred and Frances Ladd, granddaughter of the late Ezell and Blossie Williams. She attended Pickens County public school system; a 1967 graduate of Clear View High School, further her education at Drone Business College in Greenville, South Carolina.

     

She had a purpose, early in life to serve the Lord, she ask him to come into her life at the age of nine. And she joined this wonderful Church called Greater True Light F.B.H. Church.  Where she served in many capacities of the church until a called came from God in 1967 and she answered yes, during a time when a women was not welcome in the ministry. Her served as Jr. Deaconess, Secretary of Sunday School, and as a District worker Ambassador, Field Worker, President of the District Choir, also Directress of Jr. Missionary for many years.

 

In 1973 the Lord bless her with a loving husband Deacon Cecil Owens together they were blessed with three loving children, Darnell (Tyuana) Purry, Minister Cicely (Pastor Richie) Stoddard, Cecil Jr.  Eight grandchildren Tya, Owen, Carrigan, Quince,’ Valentino, Jasmine, Jessica and Justice.  A dedicated adopted grandson/nephew Terrill Simmons, along with two special great nephews Kayson  & Kai and two great grandsons.

 

Pastor Owens was employed at the Fire Baptized Holiness Headquarters for 42 years; in 2003 she was promoted to Business Manager of the Fire Baptized Holiness Church Headquarters.  2019 she was given Honorarium Doctor of Divinity, and 2022 she was elevated to National Mother of the First Episcopal Diocese.

 

The first Church she was appointed to Pastor was True Light F.B.H. Church as stand in pastor until the original Pastor was assigned. November 1988 she was sent to Pastor Anderson Fuller Temple in Anderson SC.

 

In 1993 she was appointed to Pastor what is now known as Greater True Light F.B.H. Church in Easley South Carolina. She was District President of the South Carolina #1 for 33 years.

In the General Council 2022 - District President Rev. Carolyn Owens was appointed to National Mother of the Fire Baptized Holiness Church of the 1st Episcopal Diocese.
