FAMILY LIFE EDUCATION MESSAGE
Welcome to the National Family Life Education Department. We are excited to serve you in this
capacity. To God be the glory for it is with his grace and mercy that we embark on this journey.
Remember that His mercies are new every morning, and no matter what happened yesterday,
today is always a new beginning with Him and with our families.
It is of the LORD's mercies that we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. 23 They
are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness. “ Lamentations 3:22-23. (KJV)
About Family Life Education
Family Life Education (FLE) seeks to promote family health and to develop a comprehensive
family life education program. The program will take an educational rather than a therapeutic
approach to plan, organize, implement, evaluate and equip local church family members. The
goal is to make family life education relevant, useful and informative.
Here are a few brief descriptions about family life education.
Who is a family life educator?
A family life educator is one who is willing to share information related to family life with families,
couples, parents, youth, or students by teaching, writing, coordinating, speaking and creating materials.
What do family life educators do?
Family life education is done by many different groups of people in many different ways. Some
delivery methods include print materials, mass media, classes, workshops, newsletters, and
mentoring. Family life educators use various settings to provide interpersonal skills and valuable
relationship training to people who want to be more effective family members.
Why do we need family life education?
Families face unprecedented challenges. Stress come from many sources and can impose great
burdens on families. There was a time when most young people got family life training from their
parents. Many people feel that they know a lot about families because they grew up in one.
However, today, with greater challenges than ever, it is no wonder that families feel overwhelmed
by the challenges they face. Recent discoveries show that family life education continues to present
new and better ways to strengthen couple relationships and to rear healthy balanced children.

"Holiness is a Family Responsibility"
If God’s Word is central in your life, it also must be central in your family/household
“For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall
keep the way of the LORD, to do justice and judgment; that the LORD may bring upon Abraham
that which he hath spoken of him.” Genesis 18:19 (KJV)
How much care is taken by parents today to teach the principles of the Gospel in their homes?
Consider Abraham's character and example. He not only prayed with his family, but he was very
careful to teach and guide them. Those who expect family blessings must be aware of family
duty. Holiness is a way of life.
But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation 16 Because
it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.” 1 Peter1:15, 16 (KJV)
Take notice of the two similar statements below. They encourage parents to lead the way for
their household. The first statement was written 43 years ago (October 1990) by our Chairman,
Bishop Patrick L. Frazier, Jr. The second statement was written about 191 years ago by a French
moralist, Joseph Joubert. (1754-1824).
1. Bishop Frazier, Jr. Author stated,
“Christian education is a vitally important parental responsibility. Active
participation in church and Sunday school can contribute much to the spiritual
sensitivity of children. Christian education that takes place in the home is even
more important. Not only should parents teach scriptural content and concepts in
their children, but also they should model the Christian life before their children.
Children are more apt to assimilate what they see than what they hear.” (Frazier,
Jr., Bishop Patrick L, “Introducing the Fire Baptized Holiness Church of God of the Americas, A
Study Manual”, Editor/Author/ Compiler (October 1990): pp.95.)
2. Joseph Joubert, Author stated,
“Children need models rather than critics.” (Joubert, Joseph, “Debate,
THOUGHT FOR TODAY”, The Gaston Gazette, (January 22, 2015): pp. 4A.)
The emphasis on “imitation” acknowledges the importance that role modeling plays in the
learning process for children. What kind of role model are you to your family?
To learn more about what Bishop Frazier, Jr. wrote concerning the family read his entire article,
“ Family Ministry” found in the manual, “Introducing the Fire Baptized Holiness Church of God
of the Americas, A Study Manual”, Part 3, Our Walk & Our Work,” Family Ministry,” written
by Bishop Patrick L. Frazier, Jr., Editor/Author/Compiler (October 1990): pp. 93 – 95.
